Mental arithmetic is the process of performing mathematical calculations in your mind without the use of a pen, paper, or calculator. This method enables both children and adults to calculate numbers quickly while actively exercising their brains.
Mental arithmetic involves using an abacus—a time-honoured counting tool that aids in performing complex calculations mentally.
In today’s world, children often experience apprehension towards mathematics. However, it’s important to recognise that math will be a constant in their lives, regardless of their chosen career path. Introducing mental arithmetic at an early age not only helps children master math more effectively but also enhances their overall cognitive abilities.

Our program leverages the ancient abacus to help children visualise and perform complex calculations in their minds, which boosts:
An abacus is an ancient calculation tool that helps children visualise numbers and their relationships. In mental arithmetic, it serves several key purposes:
1) Visualising Numbers: Assists in imagining numbers and operations.
2) Developing Motor Skills: Moving beads enhances fine motor skills.
3) Enhancing Focus and Attention: Requires concentration, improving attention.
4) Analytical Thinking: Teaches children to analyse numerical values.
5) Boosting Memory: Aids in remembering bead positions.
6) Mental Calculations: Transition to performing calculations mentally after practising with the abacus.
Our programme is divided into three levels to ensure a gradual development of skills:
Ages — 3-4
Expected results:
— Learning numbers from 1 to 9.
— Introduction to the abacus.
— Beginning to write numbers.
— Development of attention, memory, and logic.
Ages — 5-6
Expected results:
— Introduction to the abacus.
— Learning addition and subtraction.
— Mental visualisation for calculations.
— Development of self-discipline.
Ages — 7-11
Expected results:
— Basic arithmetic with single-digit numbers.
— Mental abacus skills.
— Improving calculation speed and accuracy.
— Enhancing concentration and memory.
Each level consists of 54 academic hours (45 minutes each), typically over about 8 months, with classes twice a week. You can see initial results within one month of classes, with improvements in concentration, memory, and focus.
